Construction glass is not dirty glass
Routine window cleaning removes what settled on the surface. Post-construction glass carries what was applied to it: overspray, mortar splatter, silicone smears, stucco splash, protective-film adhesive, and the fine grit that a whole trade sequence throws at a pane for months.
That difference is why it is priced as a project and why it is the last thing scheduled. Glass cleaned before the trades finish will simply be dirty again — and worse, the second clean is the one that scratches, because the first one already removed the sacrificial grime.
The industry bulletin is unusually direct about this. It names razor blades and scrapers used across a large portion of the pane as one of the most common mistakes made by non-glass trades, and warns that large blades carry a high probability of irreparable damage. It also recommends cleaning one small area first and stopping to examine it. That test panel is standard on every job we run.

Almost everything on a construction pane responds to soak, dwell and lubrication. Mechanical force is the last resort, used on isolated spots and never dragged across a full pane.
The order we work in. Anything that resists the first two rows gets escalated, not forced.

Coated glass changes the method entirely. Low-E, reflective and anti-glare coatings can sit on the exposed surface, where an aggressive pass takes the coating off with the debris. We identify coatings before the first pane, not after a complaint — because a scratched coating is a glass replacement, not a re-clean.
When post-construction glass should be scheduled
After the final trade and before the punch walk — and after the interior dust work, not before it. High dusting throws everything it removes into the air, and it lands on glass. Clean the panes first and you will clean them twice.
On phased handovers we sequence glass floor by floor with the general contractor so a finished floor can be shown while work continues above it. That coordination is the difference between a handover clean and a series of re-cleans nobody budgeted for.

Common questions
Can paint specks be removed without scratching the glass?
Yes, with the right sequence — solvent softening and proper technique. Blind scraping is what scratches glass; knowing when not to scrape is the actual skill.
Is this included in your post-construction cleaning?
Basic glass cleaning is; heavy residue detailing is scoped as this specialty line so the estimate is honest about the labor it takes. We'll tell you which your project needs after seeing it.
What is post-construction glass restoration?
It is the removal of construction residue from glass without damaging it — paint specks and overspray, silicone and caulk smear, sticker ghosts, mortar and stucco splatter, drywall slurry haze. It is a different job from window cleaning, and doing it with a window-cleaning method is how glass gets scratched.
Will you scrape tempered or low-E glass?
Not without testing first and getting it in writing. Heat-treated glass can carry fabrication debris that a blade will drag into a visible scratch, and scratched-glass claims are the largest single loss exposure in this work. Coated, low-E, reflective, filmed, acrylic and polycarbonate glazing are never scraped.
How do you remove mortar and stucco splatter from windows?
With a masonry residue remover, then neutralised and rinsed — acid left sitting attacks coatings and frame anodising. The more important point is timing: alkaline splatter left through rain cycles etches glass permanently, so this work is dated to the next rain, not to the walkthrough.
